In amazement...

I finished reading one of the best books I've known ever. If it changed me in a way, I'd rather not be aware of it. One thing that is exceptional about reading is that it's very private. A special bond between you and the thoughts of the author, whether wistful thinking or a perversion of the mind, can never be repeated even among other books you've read. Every book has its identity. Each page surpasses or fails your expectations.

I love old books. It's something about that aging, damp smell. Somewhat a sort of a drug you use to stimulate the brain. Books with torn pages are the most read books. They tell a many great ideals. How can you tell if one is written in the greatest craft? One that does not dictate what your mind would think. One that keeps you hanging in every page you flip. One that doesn't let you question why but rather leaves you a smile, not in the sense of happiness but a pleasure in it.

This blog would be home to quotations an egoistic mind would linger upon.

They say sound never dies, but travels on in space--what happens to a man's heartbeats?--so many of them in fifty-six years--could they be gathered again, in some sort of condenser, and put to use once more? If they were re-broadcast, would the result be the beating of those presses?

"Here are my rules: what can be done with one substance must never be done with another. No two materials are alike. No two sites on earth are alike. No two buildings have the same purpose. The purpose, the site, the material determine the shape. Nothing can be reasonable or beautiful unless it's made by one central idea, and the idea sets every detail. A building is alive, like a man. Its integrity is to follow its own truth, its one single theme, and to serve its own single purpose. A man doesn't borrow pieces of his body. A building doesn't borrow hunks of its soul. Its maker gives it the soul and every wall, window and stairway to express it."

"A thing is not high if one can reach it; it is not great if one can reason about it; it is not deep if one can see its bottom"--this had always been his credo, unstated and unquestioned." - The reign of the second-handers

"You know that I hate you, Roark. I hate you for what you are, for wanting you, for having to want you. I'm going to fight you--and I'm going to destroy you--and I tell you this as calmly as I told you mat I'm a begging animal. I'm going to pray that you can't be destroyed--I tell you this, too--even though I believe in nothing and have nothing to pray to. But I will fight to block every step you take. I will fight to tear every chance you want away from you. I will hurt you through the only thing that can hurt you--through your work. I will fight to starve you, to strangle you on the things you won't be able to reach. I have done it to you today--and that is why I shall sleep with you tonight."

You've won long ago....I'll remain what I am, and I'll remain with you--now and ever--in any way you want.

Arrghhh... I forgot to highlight the others. Since I have to go through the pages again, it would be another entry I think. These are for today.
